ARCEE develops and successfully demonstrates - machine vision for Robotic Guidance with ABB Robot IRB 340
(Posted on Saturday, May 27, 2006) |
We have developed machine vision with Cognex InSight 5100 camera for interface with an ABB IRB 340 robot for pick and place applications.
The program in the InSight camera uses the PatMax algorithm to train the required pattern, and extract the x, y, and theta orientation of any matching pattern found, whenever the camera takes a picture.
This program runs automatically when the camera is powered on, and the PC does not need to have InSight Explorer running, except for the initial setting up of the camera.
A customised calibration paper is used to calibrate the camera’s co-ordinate system with that of the robot’s co-ordinate system.
A software program developed by us runs on the PC at all times, and is used to extract the co-ordinates from the camera and deliver them to the robot’s S4C+ controller either over a serial port or on Ethernet. This program can be customised for different user applications to conveniently send all required parameters to the robot.
A program written in the S4C+ RAPID language is used to trigger the camera to to take the picture at the required times. It then collects the co-ordinates sent to it by the PC and executes, the required pick and place moves.
Here, It was shown, how cards placed at random orientations are picked by the robot and placed at a fixed user-defined orientation. |

Product launch ! Congratulations! to our R&D team (Posted on Monday, December 01, 2003) |
In a short span of three months, the existing designs were rehashed, ladder programming implemented, HMI programming tool developed and the technical manual published.
ARCEE AUTOMATIONS proudly launches new generation of XYZEE Axis controllers and low cost standalone controllers for a wide range of applications. The controllers feature AC servo interface apart from existing DC servo and Stepper interfaces. The programming is by standard Ladder Logic and communication is open protocol MODBUS.
These controllers would find usage in Packaging, Machine tools, Robotics and Special Purpose Machines |

L&T ECC entrusts ARCEE for a critical solution in warf crane appln. at Chennai Port Trust (Posted on Monday, September 01, 2003) |
The WLL cranes supplied by L&T ECC to Chennai Port Trust was under commissioning. The crane is equiped with Siemens S7 controller and drives. The solution was required to report the motor fault status at the carriage level to the operator cabin which is at a height of about 75 metres through slip rings for diagnostic purposes.
ARCEE proposed use of VIPA PLC & ABACUS MC HMIs and the interface between PLC and display unit uses EDBT ( Extended Distance Binary Transmission ) protocol for communication avoiding expensive Profibus communication.
The system is commissioned successfully with considerable savings to the customer |
